FW is proud to announce the release of its inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to support social and economic equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with a focus on women and gender-diverse individuals.

Founder and Managing Director Helen McCabe said the 2024 RAP, which has been endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, is a foundational next step in FW’s reconciliation efforts.

“Our RAP focuses our efforts on how FW can internally and externally build respect, strengthen relationships, and identify and create opportunities that progress reconciliation, build a more equitable society, and support diverse women to achieve their full potential,” said McCabe.

Through the implementation of the RAP, FW demonstrates a commitment to monitoring and evaluation, analysing data carefully to identify demographic trends and opportunities for self-reflection and improvement.

Chief Executive Officer of Reconciliation Australia, Karen Mundine, congratulated FW on this important milestone. “Congratulations FW, welcome to the RAP program, and I look forward to following your reconciliation journey in the years to come.”

“This Reflect RAP enables FW to deepen its understanding of its sphere of influence and the unique contribution it can make to lead progress. Getting these first steps right will ensure the sustainability of future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives, and provide meaningful impact toward Australia’s reconciliation journey,” said Mundine.

Since 2018, the FW Reconciliation journey:

  • 6% of FW staff members identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • The Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF) has been FW’s charity partner since its launch in 2018. AIEF supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to complete their Year 12 and tertiary studies. 10% of ticket sales from major FW events are donated to the AIEF, and the partnership is regularly amplified across FW’s social media
  • FW regularly hosts events celebrating First Nations cultures and histories, involving First Nations speakers and suppliers, and promoting these events widely
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants are given first priority access to the FW Jobs Academy, supporting women to return to work after a career break through a free, government-funded program
  • First Nations staff are prioritised for leading content on relevant issues, provided Sorry Business leave, and given opportunities to share their cultural knowledge
