FW Jobs Academy connects women over 40 with work or study

By Future Women

The FW Jobs Academy, an innovative program securing the economic futures of thousands of women like Melbourne mother-of-two Seimani Naidu, is accepting applications to help more Australian women over 40 to return to work and thrive.

Seimani pressed pause on an impressive international career to raise her young family. When she was ready to rejoin the paid workforce she was shocked by how difficult it was to find work again. This changed soon after she found Jobs Academy. Within four months of joining the jobs programs, she had secured a full-time job.

Seimani credits the FW team, fellow Jobs Academy participants sharing similar experiences, as well as online resources and career coaching with helping her to secure her new role. “I got a lot of [advice] that worked. It’s just doing simple things and you just need a fresh pair of eyes and lots of input,” she said.

FW Founder and Managing Director Helen McCabe said the program is so successful because it adapts to the needs of the women who join. “The FW Jobs Academy is tailored to the unique requirements of the women who are part of it, and the forward-thinking employers interested in tapping into one of the Australian economy’s most under-utilised resources: women.”

Applications are now open for the 2025 Jobs Academy cohort, with 650 places available to women and gender diverse people located in Australia regardless of location.

As part of the year-long program, participants gain access to:

  • A Learning Hub of self-guided courses on finding career clarity, understanding the modern job market, navigating the job search and more.
  • Mentoring and coaching delivered through small group workshops and inspirational webinars hosted by experienced professionals.
  • Jobs and Skills Fairs webinars to hear directly from employers, training organisations and career pathway programs with vacancies to fill.
  • Confidence building through community and networking opportunities via the supportive Jobs Academy network.
  • A virtual ticket to the annual FW Leadership Summit, held in March.
  • Lifetime Jobs Academy membership upon completion.

Jobs Academy is an FW initiative supported by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Office for Women. It’s supported by major employers across Australia including CyberCX, Acciona, Westpac, Aesop, HammondCare and ServiceNow.
