Jess Miller never saw herself standing for councillor. She had just become a mum, and was working full-time, when she was asked to add her name to the City of Sydney council ticket. Three years on, Jess is one of five independents who make up Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney, Clover Moore’s, governing team.

“It was a little bit of an accident I think,” she told Future Women’s Sydney Social Club at the city’s Town Hall last week.
