HELPING WOMEN GET BACK TO WORK

Giving women confidence, capacity and connections to find, gain and retain employment

JobsAcademy_03

Research has shown that at the height of COVID-related lockdowns in 2020, women were more likely to lose their jobs, and more likely to do more unpaid work, than men. In addition, the current workforce participation rate for women is almost 10 per cent lower than it is for men, as reported by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Enter, Jobs Academy - a free, year-long membership designed to support women who are looking for work, more work, or new work.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Jobs Academy is designed to support you to find a job, transition to a new career, upskill, gain more hours of work or start your own business.

If you are a successful applicant, you will gain access to Jobs Academy for 12 months beginning January, 2022. Throughout the year we will release new Jobs Academy activities for you to connect with real job opportunities and employers.

Jobs Academy is fully virtual and we welcome women from all across Australia to participate. We know you’re busy and managing complex schedules, so we’ve focused on making Jobs Academy activities as flexible as possible.

To gain the most from this opportunity, we recommend you devote an average of 1-2 hours per week to Jobs Academy activities.

Once you submit your expression of interest, we will acknowledge your submission has been received via email. Applications will open on a rolling basis and if you submit your interest, you will be the first to know.

The application process is straightforward - we will ask you a series of questions to understand more about you and your career goals.

You'll be notified of your application outcome by December 2021 at the latest, with Jobs Academy to begin in January next year.

ABOUT GIDGET FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA

Gidget Foundation Australia is a not-for-profit organisation who supports expectant and new parents experiencing, or at risk of developing, perinatal depression and anxiety. With one in five women experiencing perinatal depression or anxiety, we know this experience  can impact confidence, workforce connectedness, career progression and employability. So, we’re piloting a membership to offer targeted support.

With support from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet's Office for Women, Jobs Academy builds on Future Women’s existing leadership, skills and networking programs to support participants in building confidence, capacity and connections. In short, all the things you need to find, gain and retain secure employment. Whether you’re employed, underemployed, or unemployed and thinking about going back to work - we’ll support you.
