It has been around since 1957 and over the years the award became something of a boy’s club, despite being named after a woman, Stella Maria Sarah ‘Miles’ Franklin.Yes, you read that correctly. Two of Australia’s premier literature prizes, the Miles Franklin Literary Prize and the Stella Prize, are both named after the same woman. The shortlist will be announced on 8 March and the winner will be awarded in Melbourne on 10 April 2019.
