Are you a fan of the funk? No, I am not talking about James Brown, nor George Clinton for that matter. But funk of a whole different kind; funky wine to be exact. Better known by its more formal name “natural wine”, funky vino is a bit of an epidemic (albeit an enjoyable one) in the foodie scene as of late, especially in Australia. We just can’t get enough of the funky stuff.

Natural wine (or natty, should you want to be casual) may sound scary, but it’s really a simple concept according to Joel Amos, natural wine connoisseur and creator of booming online wine boutique drnks.com. “[It’s] just fermented grape juice!” he explains. “While there is no true definition or governing body (which he adds is probably a good thing) the term essentially refers to wines that have had no chemical intervention in the vineyard or winery, no herbicides or pesticides in the vineyard, and no adjustments.”
