When Scottish pop icon Annie Lennox penned the famous feminist anthem, “Sisters are doing it for themselves” in 1985, she surely didn’t expect those lyrics to still ring true more than 30 years later. But here we are, in 2019, and Annie’s words are as relevant as ever.   Female-led start-ups are enjoying enormous success here in Australia and around the world as more and more women choose to ditch the traditional corporate ladder for their own professional pursuits. It’s a trend that presents enormous opportunity. In fact, increasing support for female entrepreneurs could boost the global economy by trillions of dollars, according to new research by Boston Consulting Group.   However, in 2018, companies with all-female founders attracted less than three per cent of Australia’s venture funding. This is an area in which the gender pay gap is most glaring. But the future is bright. Because we are in this together. Support networks are considered the key to overcoming some of the biggest barriers facing women in business. Connectivity is key. Access is everything.

This is the purpose of our new Future Women podcast.
