If you’re still strutting around the office or after work drinks in millennial pink, it’s time to push it to the back of your wardrobe and get acquainted with this year’s hottest new colour, burnt orange. 

According to Etsy’s 2019 trend report, this year it’s all about the so-hot-right-now terra-cotta shade. The marketplace website have forecasted the fun hue will be fashion’s new ‘IT’ colour. “We’re calling it now – burnt orange is about to be everywhere. I’m excited to see this earthy hue take over our homes and outfits,” says Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson. It goes beyond wardrobes too, as Pantone announced Living Coral as the colour of 2019. But back to your wardrobe.

Etsy aren’t the only fashion aficionados predicting the the rise of this elegant yet playful take on orange. Designers by the likes of Chloé, Acne, Tibi and Jacquemus were all over the trend at last year’s spring/summer ’18 shows, as the earthy tone took centre stage down the runway. And you can bet it didn’t take long for fast fashion brands such as Topshop and Zara to follow suit.

Now we’re not only seeing the trend trickle down into our social media feeds, but also paired with our favourite A-listers such as Amal Clooney, Margot Robbie and Victoria Beckham, who have all taken the shade for a test drive. From chunky knits and wide-leg pants to slip dresses and cami’s, the hue is proving to be versatile for every season.
